Thank you so much for this great advice, and for including my question in your podcast! When I sent the voicemail question, I thought to myself “Nah Nina, you know that something is missing there in your plan”, and I thought of giving up, but you talked about these things, and gave some practical advice, some of which couldn’t come up in my mind before. One of the things which you mentioned is about the Italian cookbook. I think that would be a great thing, for a start. 🙂 My mum really wants to take a trip to Italy one day. In fact, that is her dream.
Some problems occurred after I sent you a message, and because of that, my plan needs to wait for awhile, but now, I have again the passion for doing it.
I want to say one thing which I think is the most important. You made me broaden my mind a lot. I tried doing things which I halfheartedly thought that are right, and because of that, she made up a lot of excuses. She was excited at the beginning, but she almost immediately lost the passion, unfortunately. Now I’m thinking, if I really want to do it that hard, I can make her forget about the excuses, and of course, to foster her passion.
And the last thing – we can come up with the solution of lacking the people to whom she can talk with. There are many websites for meetups, language exchanges, etc, from which we can find the best solution for her to make friends with someone and eventually, start to speak the language.
